Real Property Alliance is working to help voters understand the perils of home rule in Franklin Park and two other Illinois communities.

Real Property Alliance has take a role in telling members of three Illinois communities why voting to implement home rule might not be the best thing for the communities.

The Alliance has created three social media campaigns which urge voters in Westchester, Summit and Franklin Park to visit webpages to learn more and take action by joining the consumer advocacy effort. The three communities will vote on home rule local ballot initiatives on March 15, 2016.

This brings to four the number of local social media campaigns the organization has undertaken. The first was in Evanston last year.

The Alliance works to educate Illinois residents about the need to protect private property rights, and produces a periodic newsletter highlighting specific issues that might affect property owners.

In the case of home rule, the Alliance has information on how voting in the legal status could result in higher fees, more taxes and potentially make it harder for residents to easily buy and sell property.
