Followers of this blog may recall that last week a bill was very much in play which could cost Illinois property owners a bundle.
SB 2837 would require property owners of real estate built prior to 1988 to install a smoke detector with a 10-year battery. Nope , those nine-volt units many have just aren’t going to cut it under the legislation.
The bill failed to gain committee support, a key element of moving the legislation forward in the General Assembly.
So, for now, it looks as if this costly bill will not be a factor this year.
