Ready to pay more in property taxes? If you live in Cook County the property tax bills are going out this week.

Taxpayers in Chicago will pay on average about 13 percent more, according to an article in the Chicago Tribune. The increase is driven by a property tax increase in the city of Chicago to be used largely to meet pension obligations, and a re-assessment process that take place every three years.

According to the Cook County Record:

Cook County Clerk David Orr recently released the final 2015 property tax rates for Cook County residents, showing an average jump of 12.8 percent for Chicago residents, but only a 2 percent raise for residents in the North and South suburbs.
