According to a report, “the average single-family home… will see a 12.8 percent property tax hike,” according to the Cook County Clerk’s Office.

The increase is the result of a 2015 tax increase and property reassessments.

As the Chicago Tribune article notes:

In some areas, like the Gold Coast and South Loop, the county assessor boosted property value assessments by more than 50 percent in some cases, said Myer Blank, senior tax manager for a Chicago law firm that handles property tax appeals.
